NRG Performance Training is a professional coaching service specializing in Triathlon, working with athletes from across Canada and around the world. We are partnering with NRG for the 4th consecutive year to arrange a professionally-coached Tri Camp open to athletes of all levels and experience. We have been to Sicily Italy, Calpe Spain, Tuscany Italy, and now, we are heading to the Costa del Sol - Nerja, Andalusia, Spain.
Nerja Tri camp base
Nerja is a great spot for a training camp, lots of great roads, from flat coastal options to long climbs up to 1300+m, the weather is perfect in May with an average high of +24C and lows of +15C. We will be staying at a 4-Star hotel Riu Monica on the beach with a pool, our NRG coaches and guides will be giving you feedback on the rides and van support on the road.
Cycling – Tri camp
The main focus of the camp is cycling, we will be on road bikes and be riding in groups, and we will be putting in big days on the bike. For triathletes, we will also have some running options and open water swimming in the Mediterranean sea but the camp will be geared more towards cycling and building a good early season base. The training program will be laid out by the NRG coaching staff and will be adapted to the needs of the group. In order to ensure that everyone is able to ride at an appropriate pace the rides will be broken into 2-3 groups of similar speeds. You don’t have to be super fast to come to this camp, but you do need to be ready to put in some longer days in the saddle. Each group will have a coach/guide with them.
Biking in Nerja Andalusia
The cycling around Nerja is hilly and appropriate gearing is crucial, we recommend a minimum 34 x 28 small gear with a 34 x 32 cranks being a good idea for many. The routes and terrain will be picked according to the abilities of the group. Road bikes are required for the camp, as there will not be an opportunity to ride in your aero bars.

On Friday, you will be picked up at the Malaga airport and taken to Nerja (which is approx 50min drive from the airport). We will help you to set up the bikes and make sure everything is working for Saturday

Day 2-9 > eight full days of riding, with options for running and swimming as well. We will schedule some optional off/easy days so that you can have a chance to explore (while not riding your bike!) Nerja and the region of Andalusia
