Mozart`s town Salzburg is our starting place of your 2020 bike tour. HC team will arrive to Salzburg few days earlier to help you with transfers from the Salzburg airport to the hotel. We hope you are planning to arrive early that we can go on a warm-up ride today. Your day will start with setting up your bicycle, HC team will be ready to help you out. And you are off to Germany!? Yes, indeed! Our destination is Hitler’s former mountain-top base the Eagle’s Nest. It`s not possible to ride bikes up there, but it`s recommendable to go there by their busses. The views are fantastic, and the place is full of history. If you are up to ride little more, it`s worth to suffer taking a detour via Rossfeld Panorama Strasse – Rossfeld Panoramic road. The name says it all

Other longer or shorter options possible

The Salzkammergut

June 28th, 2021

96 km

Salzburg => Hallstatt => Gosau

The Salzkammergut is an unofficial region of Austria with some 76 lakes. It`s a very popular destination for summer and winter for outdoor tourism. You will ride along several of the region`s lakes. The main coffee stop in going to be in Hallstatt. This tiny village with its 16th-century Alpine houses looks unbelievable pretty even surreal

Zeller See (Lake Zell)

June 29th, 2021

100 km

Gosau => Gschütt pass => Dientner Sattel => Filzsattel => Zell am See

Three beautiful climbs are on your schedule for today on the way to our next hotel by on the lake Zell. It`s time for refreshing swim in the lake after the ride

The Grossglockner

June 30th, 2021

107 km

Zell am See => Grossglockner => Lienz
This is going to be a real challenge. The Grossglockner is a famous cycling climb in the Austrian Alps, a real beast never ending 20+km long with a very steady about 12 km long section of an average 10-12% steep grade! It is also a highest peak of the Austrian Alps (3,797 m). The surrounding mountainous region is part of the Hohe Tauern National Park full of stunning panoramas around
After the climb is completed, we will ride down to Lienz, where we are staying the next two nights

Visit Lienz

July 1st, 2021

Day off in Lienz
It`s time to take a day off. You can explore Lienz, or take the mountain cable car to Lienzer Schlossberg to go for hiking on Hochstein, or we can take you on a short easy ride. Lienz has many things to offer

Carinthia region of Austria

July 2nd, 2021

Lienz => Presseggersee

We have two possible rides for you for today > one is a short relatively easy ride along the river Drava and Kreuzberg climb towards to the end, the other is a long ride which starts with a several difficult hills trough many tiny villages with scenery it`s definitely worth not to miss it. As a reward, starting from the village of Kartitsch, the last almost 90 km are rolling down

Welcome to Slovenia

July 3rd, 2021

88 km

Presseggersee => Wurzenpass => Vršič Pass => Bovec

Bye Austria, Hello Slovenia! Slovenia welcomes you with its highest mountain pass Vršič (1,611 m). Likely it`s nothing comparing to the Grossglockner, but its 50 bends and average 8.2 % grade over 9.25 km is not an easy ride
You will stay in the Soca valley for the next two nights in the village of Bovec. The valley is famous for its perfectly clear turquoise waters of the Soca river, narrow gorges, and many waterfalls

Mangartsko sedlo climb in the Julian Alps, Slovenia

July 4th, 2021

50 km

Bovec => Mangart => Bovec

The Mangart Road that leads over Mangart Saddle, with its elevation of 2,055 m has a number of turns and is the highest-lying road in Slovenia. And it is the Grossglockner has to beat > 25 km all uphill with some ramps up to 20% grade! Definitely worth to ride this beast!

Lake Bled Slovenia

July 5th, 2021

113 km

Bovec => Soriska planina => Bled

Our todays destination is the lake Bled, we believe, the most visited place in Slovenia. Let`s ride and check it out why so many people go there

The capital of Slovenia - Ljubljana

July 6th, 2021

69 km

Bled => Ljubljana

On the last day, you will ride to Ljubljana. The plan is to do a relatively short easy ride to give you enough time to explore the town. And it has a lot to offer. The town is lively with many bars and restaurants, the historic castle on the top of a hill, the river Ljubljanica in the middle of the historic town, it`s an undiscovered city to explore

Goodbye! And see you back in 2022!

July 7th, 2021

Another breakfast in Slovenia and we will transport you to the airport or other location you need nearby in the morning. Simply let us know where you need to be transported

Thanks for traveling with HC Bike Tours and we are looking forward to seeing you again on a tour next year
